The original
DHV CARROUSEL® design is a biological wastewater treatment
process used for municipal and industrial wastewater. The process
is a very natural, reliable and efficient biological process that
can easily meet today's regulations on effluent in relation to
removal of BOD, COD, SS, Nitrogen and Phosphorus under different
temperature, pressure and land requirement.
The CARROUSEL® with its typical design is shaped like a 'race
track' in which wastewater is flowing around in a looped configuration.
A longitudinal partition wall divides the channels. At the end
of this wall a vertical shaft low-speed surface aerator (OXYRATOR®)
is mounted. The function of this aerator is; aeration, mixing
and propulsion of the water in the tank.
In a CARROUSEL® and its series the hydraulic design is the
most critical part of the system. The design of the CARROUSEL® tank and the design of OXYRATOR® must be properly matched
to give the best CARROUSEL® performance by having the most
optimal hydraulic design.
DHV has been able to, in the more than 30 years continuous research
and development through over 1000 actual CARROUSEL® application,
optimize the CARROUSEL® by integrate hydraulic design with
the energy division among aeration, mixing and propulsion.
